Those of you who have the similar criteria as me will understand when I say 'Delonghi Icona' or Morphy Richards 'traditional' kettles... think me, I've looked into them all!
I lastly settled on this kettle as all the testimonials I have observed have been positive (no leaking spouts or chipped silver lids right here!) and the value is affordable.
Due to the fact purchase I am particularly pleased with my selection. Looks outstanding, feels solid. The boil isn't loud (which I have an understanding of can be an concern with a lot of less expensive rapid boil kettles) and I basically like the blue light that shines when it is "on" (believed I would hate that!).
Point to note: The "minimum" water line is about half a litre, which isn't incredibly eco when generating a solo cuppa - but I can forgive that since it's red!
Has a very good finish and pleasing look, the level indicator is particularly clear and the blue backlighting rather attractive.
The on /off button is positive, the lid flip mechanism wonderful (except when already hot) and the kettle boils rapidly.
When brand new the kettle was quiet but just after a couple of weeks is now as noisy as the one we threw out. This is only a trouble if you like to listen to the radio whilst boiling!
All told this kettle is attractive, doesn't take up too much worktop space and gives really good value for revenue.
